Solar Eclipse Safety

Solar eclipse eye care safety tips for patients in Kentucky and Tennessee.

See something truly unique on April 8th! Spoiler alert ⚠️ sunglasses won't cut it. The total solar eclipse will make its debut soon so make sure you're prepared to view it safely with these eye protection tips:

  • DO Use the ISO-designated, certified eclipse glasses (ISO12312-2)

  • DO stand still and cover your eyes with your eclipse glasses or solar viewer. After viewing, turn away and then remove your glasses or viewer—do not remove your viewing glasses while looking at the sun. If you normally wear glasses, wear your eclipse glasses over them.

  • DON'T use any other alternative eyewear other than certified ISO 12312-2 glasses.

If you think you may have damaged your eyes due to sun exposure, schedule a visit with one of our optometrists who can take a look at the health of your retina. Visit our contact page to make your next appointment!
